Nate Moot a freshman linebacker and special teams player on the Westminster College Titan Football team gathered four honors at the 12th Annual Titan Football Banquet.  Nate earned a varsity letter by playing in 8 games.  He is credited with making 5 solo and 3 assisted tackles during the year.  He was named to Head Coach Jeff Hand’s Honor Roll that requires a minimum 3.0 GPA in the classroom.  Because of his 100% practice participation he is gained membership on to the “Rock Hard” team.  His teammates voted him scout team player of the year, one of only 11 awards voted on by team members.  During the presentation scout team coach Dwayne Pavkovich said “Sometimes motivating players is tough but motivation for this player was never an issue.  Because of his enthusiasm and fake checks he made my job of coaching very easy”.

Nate was a member of the 2009 PA State Runner-up Bishop McCort football team under the direction of Head Coach Ken Salem.  During this time he received honors at the state and local levels.  He was named McCort’s MaxPrep player of the week for his play against Tri-Valley during the play-off run and received the Pat Tillman Special Teams Player of the Year Award.  He is a business administration major.

EMAILS FROM FORMER CRUSHER STANDOUTS:

Artrell Hawkins:

Dear Crushers,

First off, i'd like to congratulate you on a phenomenal year....14-0....what an accomplishment! Now here you stand ready to go represent Bishop McCort High School at its first ever state championship game.  That's quite an achievement when you consider the long history and tradition of Bishop McCort Football. You are the first.....pause and take that in for a minute.....really take that in and let it settle.....especially the Seniors..... think about the moments that have led up until now....all of the past seasons and what your expectations were going into this season.....WHAT A JOURNEY! Every one of you are part of making
history for your school. What a great opportunity to become legends
and set new standards of football greatness at McCort!
CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL OF YOU--you truly are a special group!

You wouldn't be here without a tremendous amount of hard work, dedication, and resolve.  Keep all of these things in mind tomorrow....and be sure to take in every moment along the way.....the bus ride, the pre-game, the kick-off....savor every minute, for these are rare and golden opportunities that don't come around often and and of which you will surely cherish for a lifetime. As an alumni, you make me proud to say I'm a Crusher. My heart bleeds crimson and gold....and i know yours does too.  So as you take that field tomorrow, play with the same POISE, PASSION, and PURPOSE that has brought you to this place.

GOD BLESS YOU ALL....AND GO GET EM!!!

Jack Ham:

What a great team you are!  Good luck in the big game against Clairton.  Bring back the state championship!  You've earned it!GO CRUSHERS!!!

Pete Duranko:

The McCort family is so very proud of you and so am I.  I have watched you over the past four years and you have shown me your pride, your dedication and your determination.  You have a chance to make history for McCort and the city of Johnstown.  Play as a team, and kick butt and take names.   Good Luck!!

John Stofa:

Ken Salem and THE FOOTBALL CRUSHERS:  I am sure I speak for all  former Crusher players and students when I say how proud we are of you and what  you have accomplished so far this year.  Representing the Johnstown Area  and its heritage for hard working and dedicated people is something that you should be very proud of.  We will all be with you in person or spirit  playing every play and down ....Just remember...getting to the Championship Game  was NOT your goal !   WINNING the game and bringing the STATE  CHAMPIONSHIP TROPHY home to Bishop McCort is  what you have worked so long  and hard for!.... Play relaxed and enjoy the wonderful experience.......
.........CRUSH THOSE BEARS........

Steve Smear:

Hey guys, all former BMHS football players want to say how proud we are of your accomplishments this year.  You and the coaches have worked so hard to achieve the ultimate.... To play for a State of Pennsylvania Football Championship.  Though other BMHS football teams have gone undefeated in the past none have ever played for a State Championship.  You guys are in elite company.

Though this game is a Championship game it should be played like every other game you have played in to date.  Just a couple of things... Joe Paterno used to say "KEEP HUSTLING & SOMETHING GOOD WILL HAPPEN".  If adversity strikes in this game just keep hustling and something good will happen !!!  Also, go 100 mph and don't stop hustling until the whistle blows.  O-lineman finish that first block but go get another one at the next level because getting a piece of a guy at the next level may mean the difference between a 5 yard gain and a play that goes the distance.  D lineman defeat the guy in front of you 1st and then get to the ball and GANG tackle.  Get as many hats on the ball carrier as you can and punish the ball carrier.  All games are won at the line of scrimmage so win the battle at the line of scrimmage and good things will happen.

We are all proud of you and when you make that block, when you make that tackle, when you make that run, when you make that pass, when you make that kick all of us former players are right there with you in spirit and we are whispering to you...... KICK BUTT !!!
