The Fine Arts Department was established to help students discover their
unique creative energies and develop the visual, intellectual and technical
skills that will allow them to fulfill their artistic promise.
The Art Club continues the mission of the Art Department by taking the
student's in-class knowledge out of the classroom. The students in the Art Club
are exposed to new and varied professional arts by traveling to various museums,
galleries and shows.
The Art Club was established in 1990. The club plans and fundraises for
annual field trips. The club has traveled to Pittsburgh, Harrisburg, Washington
D.C and Loretto. Highlights of the field trips include visits to the National
Gallery of Art.
The club also brings local artisans to the school to discuss and demonstrate
skills not necessarily used in the classroom. As members of the Bishop McCort
Art Club, the students are asked to gain experience as artists and Catholic
Christians by contributing their talents to various civic organizations, as well
as the school and other departments in the school.
The Art Club is an organization open to all members of the student body that
are interested in the visual arts.
The Art Club is a service club, serving the promotion of art in our schools,
in our community and in ourselves.
